The Florida State University campus life is very energetic with a large student population. FSU is community oriented and very active with campus events and activities to share school spirit. For example, days when sporting events fall on Fridays are known as Garnet and Gold Fridays and students are encouraged to wear school colors as a way to share school spirit.
FSU is known for its strong athletic programs, especially football. Football games are major events for the campus community. FSU is a Division I school and member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The FSU Seminole teams compete against schools like Virginia Tech, Boston College, Clemson, and Duke. FSU students love to support their teams, and students are encouraged to wear their school colors on “Garnet and Gold Fridays.”
Florida State University is distinguished for meteorology research. The university is home to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory which is one of the largest and highest-powered magnet laboratories in the world and home to the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies which is a leading meteorology and atmospheric science center.
